About the Role

The Sample Preparation Lead Hand is a key member of the laboratory team at ALS, responsible for overseeing the sample preparation process and ensuring the highest quality standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the sample preparation team to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and precision in sample preparation.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to resolve technical issues and improve processes.
  • Train and mentor new staff members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties.
  • Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies to ensure optimal performance.
  • Develop and implement safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular quality control checks to ensure compliance with ALS standards.
  • Provide input to the laboratory management team on process improvements and new technologies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a commercial minerals laboratory or sample preparation environment.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and quality control protocols.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Intermediate English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including LIMS, WebView, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
