Miramichi Registered Nurse Class A Position

Job Purpose
To collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in the planning and delivery of comprehensive nursing care that meets individual patient needs in accordance with the Emergency Department's philosophy, objectives, and policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other departments.
- Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and good judgment.
- Work collaboratively and independently, demonstrating a high regard for confidentiality.
- Adhere to legislation and Horizon Health's Confidentiality Policy to ensure patient, business, financial, and employee information is accessed on a need-to-know basis.
- Contribute to creating a culture of safety, working as a team, communicating effectively, and responding to adverse events.
Qualifications
- Active registration with the Nurses Association of New Brunswick or eligibility for such.
- Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support Course and recertification yearly as a condition of continuing employment.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an ER and/or critical care setting or successful completion of the NBCCNP, an asset.
- Certified in IV and CVAD Therapy in compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Current BCMI/ACLS Certification or willingness to acquire certification at the earliest opportunity, not to exceed 6 months.
- Must complete required certification for medical delegated functions specific to ER within 6 months.
- Completion of CTAS course or willingness to obtain within 1 year.
- Completion of required certification for medical delegated functions specific to ER within 6 months, ie. central lines, etc.
- Current ENCP/PALS/TNCC Certification or willing to obtain within 1 year.
- Possesses the medical/surgical nursing knowledge and clinical skills/expertise necessary to provide care for this population and off-service patients.
- Demonstrated ability to respond to emergency situations, rapidly changing priorities, and complex patient care needs.
- Possesses the medical/surgical nursing knowledge and clinical skills/expertise necessary to provide care.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or willingness to obtain within 1 year.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, as assigned, including weekends and holidays throughout the year.
- Ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Good work record.
