Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Senior Product Development Engineer to join our team in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. As a key member of our technology department, you will be responsible for the research, design, testing, and validation of solar PV cells and modules. Your expertise will play a crucial role in driving technical product innovation and development, ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement new technology development plans, including prototyping, pre-production, and production.
- Perform material selection and develop process recipes for new products, while monitoring existing products.
- Assist in setting product quality, reliability, and performance requirements, and make samples in the factory.
- Develop test and characterization plans for components, panels, and systems.
- Analyze large sets of data and present conclusions to internal and external teams.
- Define tasks relating to assigned projects and bring them to timely completion with minimal supervision.
- Collaborate with sales, marketing, operations, and procurement teams to ensure development goals are met.
- M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field with three (3) years of direct experience in the development of new PV products or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Hands-on experience with solar panel manufacturing and testing, including the setup and operation of solar panel manufacturing and test equipment.
- Knowledge of certification, safety, and compliance standards of solar panels and systems.
- Strong knowledge of solar industry trends, solar products, and solar systems.
- Direct experience working with suppliers of materials and products within the solar industry.
- Highly skilled in one or more programming languages, lab tools, data analytics, and analysis.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
- Excellent attention to detail and great problem-solving skills for determining solutions when issues arise.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, capable of working well with cross-functional teams and interfacing effectively with all levels of the organization.
- A passport to travel internationally is a must, and the ability to travel to the USA is considered an asset.
