Job Description

The Lands and Planning Branch of the Manitoba Government is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Land Planning Expert to join their team.

About the Position

This role plays a critical part in developing and implementing provincial Crown land planning, operational land use policies, and delivering programs and initiatives for lands administered under the Crown Lands Act.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement land-planning principles through consultation and collaboration with various stakeholders.
  • Incorporate scientific, technical, stakeholder, and Indigenous knowledge in land use decisions.
  • Formulate management recommendations and facilitate the development of land use plans.
Requirements
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in planning, land management, or public administration.
  • Experience related to land use planning, research, analysis, and interpretation of legislation, regulations, and planning policies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to integrate diverse knowledge in land use decisions.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write detailed analytical reports for decision-makers and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • General knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and its application in land use planning.
What We Offer

This position offers a competitive salary, estimated to be around $65,000-$85,000 per year, depending on experience.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on complex projects, develop their skills, and contribute to the effective stewardship of Crown land.
