Lead Our Efforts to Restore the Elizabeth River

We are seeking an exceptional leader to join our team as the Executive Director of River Restoration. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in advancing our mission to restore the Elizabeth River through equitable collaboration with diverse communities, businesses, and governments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead our community-wide collaboration to restore the environmental health of the Elizabeth River
  • Develop and implement strategies to cultivate donor relations, secure large private and public gifts, and steward our resources effectively
  • Advocate for environmental justice and promote equity, inclusivity, and sustainability in all aspects of our work
  • Collaborate with our Board, staff, and partners to integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion principles into our river restoration efforts
  • Oversee the development and implementation of our digital marketing and technology strategies to communicate with and strengthen our constituency, fundraise, and advance our mission
Requirements:
  • At least five years of experience at the executive level in leading a nonprofit organization or a comparable organization
  • A high level of integrity, the ability to find common ground, and keen interpersonal skills
  • Significant fundraising experience with demonstrated success in cultivating donor relations and securing large private and public gifts
  • A sense of urgency about our mission, along with a sense of fun and excitement in doing the work
  • A firm commitment to equity, inclusivity, and environmental justice, and proven experience implementing sound initiatives in these areas
