At Toronto Public Library (TPL), we're leading the way in North America's biggest and busiest urban public library system. Our 2,500 employees empower Torontonians to thrive in the digital age and knowledge economy through easy access to technology, lifelong learning, and diverse cultural and leisure experiences, where, when and how our customers need them.
We're an exciting place to work during a time when economic, political, social, and educational sectors are focused on the critical importance of the knowledge economy and managing exponential change and technological disruption. As libraries, we're being recognized as catalysts for our cities' success and our neighborhoods' resilience and renewal.
The Director, Finance & Treasurer is our Chief Financial Officer (CFO). You'll provide executive leadership and oversight of TPL's financial management function, ensuring timely, accurate, clear, and complete financial information for the Library Board and City Librarian. This will enable them to exercise their fiduciary duty of care and due diligence. Your role also includes maintaining a financial framework of policies, procedures, controls, and authorities that manage risk and maintain TPL's financial credibility while supporting innovative, efficient, and high-quality library service.

Your expertise in budgeting, financial planning, governmental accounting, and cost control procedures will be essential in articulating and translating the impacts of key business decisions. You should be able to effectively lead a team of finance professionals and administrative staff, fostering an open, inclusive work environment that attracts, engages, and retains high-performing staff. You'll stay up-to-date on trends in financial management, business leadership, and organizational effectiveness, acting as an innovative, future-facing leader in the finance field. We're looking for a public sector leader who can be a change agent and collaborate with us to support the ongoing transformation of these important services and build organizational capacity for innovation.
Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum (based on location and experience), depending on qualifications.
