About the Opportunity

The Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of Black Political Thought. This appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses on the University of Toronto's downtown campus
  • Conduct innovative and independent research at the highest international level
  • Establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program
  • Contribute to the department's research and teaching profile

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Political Science or a related discipline by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter
  • Clearly demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching
  • Specialization in Black Political Thought, including political thought from Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, Canada, the United States, Europe, or other parts of the world

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in teaching and research in Black Studies or a related field
  • Strong research and teaching profile, with a focus on Black Political Thought
