Clinical Psychologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our Acquired Brain Injury Services (ABI) team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide a full range of psychological services to clients with Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). Your expertise will be instrumental in helping our clients achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive oral and written assessments of client functioning, including intellectual, neurocognitive, emotional, personality, psychopathology, interests, and aptitudes.
- Develop and implement rehabilitative treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, focusing on training and social rehabilitation of clients with ABI.
- Administer and interpret neurocognitive assessments for individuals with mild to severe brain injuries who are clients of ABI Services.
- Provide individual and group treatment interventions for challenging personality traits post-injury, working closely with the multidisciplinary team and contractors to inform psychological aspects of the care plan.
- Lead program development and management of psychological services for the ABI program, bringing clinical and administrative expertise to assessment, treatment, service planning, and program design.
- Offer consultation to colleagues on assessment and treatment issues, including direct consultation, co-therapy, psychoeducational groups, or discussions regarding client concerns.
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and decision-making processes, contributing to team functioning and provision of psychological services.
- Maintain confidential client clinical records, writing timely and accurate reports of relevant observations and evaluations to ensure continuity of communication and full client documentation.
- Develop and promote educational programs on therapeutic and assessment techniques at the team, community, and regional levels.
- Initiate and carry out program evaluation in consultation with the Manager, suggesting hypotheses, identifying relevant variables, formulating a research design, and carrying it out.
- Conduct research work for the advancement of psychological issues within ABI services.
- Supervise psychology students, interns, or other psychologists as required.
We are looking for a candidate with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, including relevant coursework, training, and clinical supervision in assessment/testing and intervention. A minimum of two years' recent related experience in neurocognitive assessment and administration/interpretation of neurocognitive assessments is required. Experience working with rehabilitation interventions, multidisciplinary teamwork with complex care clients, and working with individuals with ABI within a clinical or supportive setting is also essential. Current registration with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia is mandatory.
The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based ABI rehabilitation, research skills, and knowledge of developmental theories, family and social dynamics, treatment and behavior management modalities, and psychological testing and interpretation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to prepare comprehensive written assessments and implement policies and procedures, are also essential.
