Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Advisor for High Performance Computing to join our team at the Knowledge, Information, and Technology Services Branch (KITS). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing end-user support and operations of the High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster, ensuring that scientists can run large-scale analyses efficiently and with minimal disruptions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide end-user support for HPC cluster users, including application support, job debugging, and script debugging.
  • Configure and monitor hardware, including nodes, switches, and storage appliances.
  • Perform operating system patching and configuration, as well as scheduler configuration and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with KITS IT personnel to ensure the smooth operation of the HPC cluster.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or Information Systems.
  • Significant experience in running jobs on a batch cluster, including troubleshooting shell scripts and job files.
  • Experience with containerization, such as Docker or Singularity.
  • Knowledge of HPC cluster environments and distributed scientific computing.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer hardware, systems architecture, and operating system principles of Linux-based systems.

Assets

  • Experience in customer service.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes as a user, administrator, or both.

Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and may be required to work overtime.
