We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Intelligent Systems Designer to join our team at Smith + Andersen.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to take on a leadership role in designing and engineering audiovisual, telecommunications, security, and intelligent building systems. As a Senior Intelligent Systems Designer, you will be responsible for producing high-quality deliverables, collaborating with internal and external teams, and ensuring the successful execution of projects.

You will possess a strong understanding of codes and standards relevant to the project, as well as excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with clients, staff, and other stakeholders. Your ability to work independently and prioritize tasks while maintaining a sense of urgency will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and engineer audiovisual, telecommunications, security, and intelligent building systems for various projects.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure the successful execution of projects.
  • Produce high-quality deliverables, including tender documentation, design briefs, cost documentation, site reports, and computer models.
  • Develop system engineering concepts and coordinate with project managers to prepare calculations and select equipment.
  • Ensure proper coordination of documents with the internal and external project team.
  • Review deliverables for completeness and accuracy at various stages of development.
  • Promote and enforce company standards relating to project administration, documentation, and processes.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Two or more years of experience in audiovisual, telecommunications, or security design engineering.
  • Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) designation and Manufacturer Training are assets.
  • P. Eng, RCDD, PSP, CTS-D, MCSE, CCIE Certifications are assets.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, CAD/Revit, MS Project, Visio.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Familiarity with BISCI, EIA/TIA, and CSA standards.
