The Lead Negotiator, Pharmaceutical Partnerships is accountable for executing and delivering on ESC's Pharmaceutical Partnerships strategy. In this role, you will manage relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, focusing on negotiating product listing agreements (PLAs). You will work closely with our in-house clinical team to identify opportunities and align with clients on the viability of proposed formulary changes. Additionally, you will oversee the day-to-day activities related to PLAs to ensure smooth operations and execution of the agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including pharmaceutical manufacturer partners and representatives.
  • Monitor current market and external issues impacting pharmaceutical reimbursement, including industry trends, public policy, and the competitive landscape.
  • Lead the execution of the PLA negotiation process with pharmaceutical manufacturers, developing negotiation strategies, negotiating phases, and contracting.
  • Understand and align with carrier strategies to deliver meaningful PLAs across provincial regulatory boundaries.
  • Coordinate legal and business reviews of negotiated documents, resolve contract interpretation questions, and provide assistance on audit and invoicing questions.
  • Deliver annual PLA forecasts within budget.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical market access, pharmacy, health insurance, or benefits management.
  • University degree in Pharmacy, Business, Science, or a related field is preferred; clinical background is considered a strong asset.
  • Bilingual English and French is considered a strong asset.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Subject matter expertise in market access, benefits/insurance industry, value proposition development, drug reimbursement processes, and public policy.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to create and deliver professional presentations.
  • Strong negotiation and influence skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen, with the ability to synthesize complex concepts and information.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Canadian pharmaceutical landscape, Pharmacy Benefit Management, and Provincial Formularies and Regulations.
  • Established relationships with pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers are considered a strong asset.
