Job Summary

CPKC is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Constable to join our team. As a key member of our law enforcement team, you will be responsible for maintaining public safety through enforcement and education, as well as preventing and detecting crime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce Federal, Provincial, and municipal laws, statutes, and by-laws
  • Conduct criminal and collision investigations
  • Respond to emergency incidents and calls for service
  • Protect Railway assets, operations, and personnel
  • Collaborate with other Law Enforcement Agencies during investigations and joint enforcement operations
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Plan, manage, and prioritize workload, and conduct general and directed patrols
  • Be prepared to travel for assignments, incidents, and training
  • Be prepared for 'On-Call' and 'Callout' duties with compensation
  • Communicate effectively with the public and other stakeholders
  • Provide assistance to victims of crime
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and prosecution files, and deliver court testimony
  • Manage and escort prisoners
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends and statutory holidays

Requirements

  • Be a Canadian citizen
  • Have a High School diploma or GED
  • Post-Secondary education is an asset
  • Have completed and passed full basic police recruit training with a recognized police service in Canada
  • Be a FIRST class police constable in good standing with a recognized Canadian federal, provincial, municipal, or First Nations police service
  • Have knowledge of the Canadian Criminal Justice System
  • Have knowledge of enforcement under Provincial Statutes
  • Have community involvement experience
  • Have basic computer skills
  • Be able to complete a fitness test (PARE, POPAT, or PREP)
  • Have a valid driver's license for the province of employment
  • Be qualified in First Aid, CPR, and AED
  • Meet CPKC Police Firearms and Use of Force Standards
  • Pass a psychological evaluation
  • Pass a polygraph exam
  • Not have any McNeil decisions on their personnel file
