Financial Aid Representative

Job Description:
British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Aid Representative to join our team. As a key member of our department, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional support to students navigating financial aid and award programs.
About the Role:
This is a temporary, full-time position that offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to make a real difference in the lives of students. You will work closely with students, advisors, and internal teams to ensure seamless delivery of financial aid services. Your expertise will be essential in providing accurate information, resolving complex issues, and ensuring compliance with government regulations and BCIT policies.
Responsibilities:
- Student Support: Provide comprehensive assistance to students on all aspects of financial aid, including need-based and merit-based student assistance, scholarships, bursaries, and other awards.
- Process Applications: Review applications for completeness, accuracy, and missing documentation. Verify student enrollment status, program details, and eligibility criteria for financial aid.
- Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot application issues, investigate reasons for delays, and provide effective solutions to students.
- Communication: Develop and maintain relationships with students, advisors, and internal teams to ensure smooth communication and collaboration.
- Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records, track progress, and update databases as needed.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you must possess:
- A Grade 12 plus completion of a 2-year post-secondary diploma in office administration or business administration.
- Two years of general experience plus one year of related experience working with student financial assistance programs or customer service experience in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel spreadsheets, and experience with enterprise systems like Banner and Ministry financial aid systems.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks efficiently, and maintain confidentiality.
