Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Operations Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our Payroll Services department, you will be responsible for providing financial administration, systems, and advisory support to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our payroll processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll Process Improvement: Collaborate with the Payroll team to create, review, revise, and implement new or changed department procedures to improve services, simplify workflow, and enhance integration with other financial groups.
  • Data Analysis and Interpretation: Provide specific data analysis and interpretation on payroll/timekeeping information by extracting mass data from the computerized system to identify payroll/timekeeping anomalies, inconsistencies, and/or erroneous data.
  • Financial Risk Management: Review reconciliation of mass payroll/timekeeping entries, analyze and investigate labor expenses and liabilities, and perform mass audits of payroll/timekeeping entries to identify errors and recommend corrective action to minimize financial risk.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a resource and provide support to Managers by identifying payroll/timekeeping issues through mass audits and providing recommendations to resolve these issues.
  • Quality Improvement: Conduct follow-up investigations and/or audits with the Manager to ensure payroll/timekeeping discrepancies are resolved and provide further recommendations to the Manager.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Computing Sciences, or Financial Management certificate or related financial courses plus Payroll Manager Certification (PMCP) or enrollment at the second level.
  • Experience: Five (5) years' recent related experience in various payroll/financial functions, including experience performing general ledger reconciliations, salary continuance accounting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
