About the Opportunity

The District of North Vancouver is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Park Ranger Supervisor to join our Parks Department. This exciting leadership role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the preservation and promotion of our natural areas and the delivery of safe and effective park services.

About the Role

As a Park Ranger Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising and directing a team of park rangers, developing and implementing operational plans, policies, and procedures to ensure the safe and effective delivery of park services. You will also oversee public compliance with applicable regulations and bylaws, and provide public education and engagement to support positive relationships with park visitors, public safety, and environmental protection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, direct, and participate in the day-to-day operations of the park rangers team.
  • Develop and implement operational plans, policies, and procedures to ensure safe and effective park services.
  • Oversee public compliance with applicable regulations and bylaws, and provide public education and engagement.
  • Investigate and process complaints and escalated issues concerning bylaw infractions.
  • Ensure compliance with screening officer policies, coordinate operational responses to emergencies, and serve as a liaison with municipal departments and external agencies.
  • Draft and recommend amendments to budgets, fees, bylaws, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepare reports, records, and correspondence related to the work.

Requirements

  • A Diploma in natural resource management, environmental science, park administration, or other relevant field, supplemented by training in regulatory enforcement and emergency response.
  • Considerable experience in regulatory enforcement, including some leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Level 1 First Aid Certification, including CPR certification, and a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.
