Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Application Security Manager to join our team at ipss inc. as a key member of our Office of the Chief Information Security Officer. The successful candidate will provide senior-level strategic and tactical guidance to the Director Cyber Threat Management and the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in the execution of our mandate to establish and maintain a comprehensive cyber program that ensures the City is adequately protected.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Application Security Program: Develop and implement a comprehensive application security program that aligns with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and Implement Enterprise Security Solutions: Identify and implement enterprise security solutions to address known risks and vulnerabilities, ensuring the security and integrity of our applications and data.
  • Collaborate with Development Teams: Collaborate with development teams and stakeholders to integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring that security is embedded throughout the development process.
  • Oversee Security Risk Assessments: Oversee the execution of security risk assessments, vulnerability testing, and code reviews to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
  • Prioritize and Remediate Risks: Prioritize and remediate identified risks, working closely with development teams and stakeholders to ensure timely and effective resolution.
  • Monitor and Report Compliance: Monitor and report on compliance with related policies and standards, ensuring that our security program is aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Propose Policy Changes: Propose changes to existing policies and procedures to ensure operating efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and Deliver Metrics Reports: Prepare and deliver metrics and reports to senior management to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our security functions.
Qualifications and Certifications
  • Post-Secondary Degree: A post-secondary degree in Business or Technology or a related discipline.
  • Senior-Level Experience: Over 7 years of senior-level experience in Information Security, with a strong understanding of application security principles, practices, and tools.
  • Industry Certifications: Preferred certifications include CISSP, CSSLP, or CISM.

  • Leadership and Organizational Skills: Excellent leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of stakeholders.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify solutions to unusual and complex problems.
  • Business Acumen: Strong business acumen, with experience in budgeting and financial management.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present to senior levels and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Additional Requirements
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel to all City of Toronto office locations and outside the city/country for conferences, as required.
  • Security Clearance: Subject to a police check, background check, psychological assessment, and/or any other checks as required by the Office of the CISO.
