School Bus Operator

At Kootenay/Okanagan, we are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious School Bus Driver to transport students to and from school, ensuring a secure and enjoyable experience for all.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a school bus, transporting students to and from school and on field trips, adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Perform routine mechanical inspections, determine required maintenance, and complete repairs or arrange for repairs with the mechanical facility.
- Conduct thorough safety checks of the vehicle prior to each trip, ensuring all necessary precautions are taken.
- Complete tasks to ensure safe and continuous bus operation, including cleaning the interior and exterior and refueling.
- Instruct students on safety rules and supervise/enforce rules during trips.
Requirements:
- Completion of specialized bus driver training.
- Valid Class 2 driver's license with air brake endorsement and a clean driver's abstract.
- Completion of and possession of valid CPR and First Aid certificate.
- Experience in the transportation industry is an asset.
- Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Record Check clearance required.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly wage starting at $25 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Favorable benefits package and pension plan.
- Shifts typically 7:00 - 9:00 am and 2:30 - 4:30 pm on school days for an average of 4 hours per day/20 hours per week.
- Opportunity for additional hours for field trip coverage.
