Job Summary

The City of Kingston is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Training Officer to join our team. As a key member of our fire department, you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering training programs to ensure that our firefighters have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement training programs for firefighters, including fire suppression, fire prevention, health and safety, and other related topics.
  • Coordinate and conduct live fire training exercises, ensuring that all safety protocols are followed.
  • Assist with the development and evaluation of Pre-Response Plans in conjunction with the various divisions.
  • Counsel firefighters regarding career path planning and training and education opportunities.
  • Prepare and submit annual reports, including personnel performance, statistics, incident audits, training programs, and resource materials.
  • Manage and maintain the Regional Training Centre, ensuring that it is equipped with the necessary resources and equipment.
  • Oversee expenditures, purchasing, and overtime within the training division.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Extensive knowledge of modern firefighting techniques and procedures.
  • Experience in the supervision of Career and Volunteer Firefighters.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office 365.
  • A valid Class DZ Ontario driver's license.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
