Job Summary

The City of Kingston is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Training Officer to join our team. As a Fire Training Officer, you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering training programs for firefighters, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement training programs for firefighters, including classroom instruction and hands-on training exercises.
  • Conduct regular training sessions and evaluations to ensure firefighters are meeting the required standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to develop and implement training programs that meet the needs of the community.
  • Provide guidance and support to firefighters on safety procedures and protocols.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest training methods and technologies to ensure the department is using the most effective and efficient training techniques.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in fire training and safety, preferably in a municipal or fire department setting.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver effective training programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with firefighters, other departments, and the community.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Valid Class DZ Ontario driver's license and current First Aid and CPR certificates.
