About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team in Spruce Grove. As a Community Counsellor, you will provide counselling services to residents of Parkland County and Spruce Grove with a focus on single sessions counselling support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide confidential intake services for residents seeking counselling to determine eligibility of service.
  • Offer trauma-informed, client-centered counselling sessions for individuals aged 14 and up within the scope of practice of the therapist.
  • Evaluate clients' needs and develop personalized plans to address their concerns.
  • Collaborate with community agencies to identify gaps in service and share resource information.
  • Work closely with clients to set and achieve SMART goals, promoting long-term success and well-being.
  • Document client interactions and progress, maintaining accurate records for municipal and provincial reporting purposes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling.
  • Full registration with a licensing body/college and in good standing.
  • Registration with various insurance providers (e.g., AB Blue Cross, Medavie Blue Cross) or ability to meet criteria for reimbursement of client-related expenses.
  • (4) years to (6) years of experience in clinical counselling, preferably working with vulnerable populations and Indigenous individuals.
