The Opportunity

As a key member of the Wajax team, the Lead Hand will work closely with shop service managers and administrative staff to provide support with the daily operations of the shop. This role is ideal for individuals who want to take on a more active role in the day-to-day operations of a service shop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in overseeing the day-to-day running of the shop and maintain a consistent workflow.
  • Provide guidance and support to technicians and apprentices with troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Help train apprentices in proper work procedures and ensure they are equipped to perform their duties safely and effectively.
  • Verify the quality of completed projects and ensure they meet the required standards.
  • Foster a culture of safety and promote health and wellness awareness throughout the shop.
  • Ensure technicians are wearing and using the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Perform regular equipment and facility maintenance and inspections.
  • Assist technicians with diagnosis, job procedures, and requirements.
  • Provide direction and guidance to technicians as needed.
  • Provide regular updates to the shop service manager.
  • Assist with data collection for Hitachi FIR reports to support prompt warranty recovery.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 3-4 years of construction equipment repairs.
  • Education: Journeyman HET or equivalent experience.
