Job Summary:

Brandt is seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Hand to join our team in Fort St. John. As a key member of our Service Department, you will be responsible for coordinating and directing the workload of our technicians to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Workload Coordination: Assist in the assignment of jobs and work areas to Service Department employees, ensuring they are working on tasks that match their skills and knowledge.
  • Repair Order Review: Participate in the appraisal of repair orders coming into the Service Department, reviewing them for accuracy and completeness.
  • Technician Support: Direct and assist technicians and apprentices in the diagnosis of machine problems, providing guidance and expertise as needed.
  • Tool Maintenance: Inspect and repair all special tools, recommending new tooling as required to ensure our technicians have the equipment they need to do their jobs effectively.
  • Customer Communication: Advise the Shop Foreman or Service Manager of all customer complaints, ensuring that issues are addressed promptly and professionally.
  • Safety Meetings: Assist in coordinating and conducting quarterly safety meetings, ensuring that our team is aware of and adheres to all safety protocols.
  • Leadership: May fill the Shop Foreman's role in their absence, providing leadership and guidance to the team.
  • Equipment Management: May arrange for and participate in the reconditioning of used equipment and the setup of new equipment, ensuring that our team has the tools and resources they need to do their jobs effectively.
  • Performance Feedback: Assist in providing performance feedback for service technicians and staff to the Service Manager, helping to identify areas for improvement and development.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 5+ years' experience as a heavy duty service technician, with a strong background in repair and maintenance.
  • Certifications: Journeyman certificate required, with a Class 1 driver's license considered an asset.
  • Skills: Ability to work multiple shift patterns, lead others, and possess effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to groups.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
