Lead Market Access Strategist

About the Department:
The Patient Access & Public Affairs Department is dedicated to improving patient outcomes in Canada by facilitating access to transformative therapies for chronic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and rare blood and endocrine disorders. We collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance health results through advocacy, policy initiatives, and support for underserved communities.
Position Overview:
In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive market access strategies in collaboration with both global and local teams to secure reimbursement from public and private sectors. You will engage in a range of projects that support the access strategy, including reimbursement submissions, health technology assessments (HTA), and pricing evaluations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the formulation of market access strategies for Novo Nordisk products in partnership with a cross-functional team.
- Identify opportunities and challenges in market access for assigned products and devise strategies to foster a favorable access landscape.
- Develop compelling payer value propositions with key clinical and economic messages for payer interactions and submissions.
- Participate in cross-functional brand launch teams to ensure alignment and effective strategy execution.
- Collaborate with local health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) partners to implement tactics that support market access strategies.
- Work with global teams to ensure alignment of strategies with Canadian market access requirements.
- Facilitate the approval process for launch pricing in collaboration with cross-functional partners.
- Devise pricing negotiation strategies for public and private listings of assigned products.
- Create payer communication tools for engagements with payers and HTA bodies.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of reimbursement packages, including clinical dossiers, in accordance with jurisdictional requirements.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgetary constraints.
- Lead discussions with external stakeholders, including payers and HTA agencies.
- Monitor trends in reimbursement policies and practices within the public and private sectors.
Education Requirements:
- A Master's degree in health economics, pharmacy, or a related field.
Preferred Professional Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical market access.
- Experience with market access strategies for chronic disease therapies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth understanding of the Canadian pharmaceutical payer landscape.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach.
- Strong ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Working Conditions:
- This position is based in the head office.
- Travel requirements are estimated at 15-25 days per year.
