Job Title: Financial Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Manager to join our team at the City of Charlottetown. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the city, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to senior management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct a team of 5-10 staff members
  • Evaluate daily operations and identify areas for improvement
  • Investigate compliance issues and implement corrective actions
  • Review budgets and financial reports for specific projects
  • Train staff on financial procedures and policies
  • Establish and implement policies and procedures
  • Monitor financial control systems and oversee the collection and analysis of financial data
  • Advise senior management on financial matters
  • Keep financial records and establish, maintain, and balance various accounts using manual and computerized bookkeeping systems
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to staff
Requirements:
  • 5 years or more of experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of MS Great Plains (GP) and MS Office
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
