About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Legal to join our team at D2L. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic legal advice to our President and Executive Chairman on a range of matters, including employment law, corporate governance, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Provide expert advice on employment law matters, including contract review and negotiation, employee relations, and litigation management.
- Collaborate with our People and Culture team to develop and implement effective HR strategies and programs.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and government authorities as required to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Manage litigation and external counsel to ensure effective resolution of disputes and minimize risk to the company.
- Assist with cross-functional project management and provide legal guidance on business initiatives and transactions.
Requirements:
- Called to the bar in Canada or the United States.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a corporate lawyer in a leading law firm.
- Strong knowledge of and experience drafting and reviewing contract terms and conditions, including liability, indemnity, and IP considerations.
- Transaction management experience an asset.
- International experience an asset.
