Halifax Water is seeking a skilled and dedicated Operational Technology (OT) Technician to join our team.
In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our water and wastewater systems. You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and configuring a wide range of industrial control systems (ICS), including Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
Your Responsibilities:- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of arc flash and electrical safety protocols.
- Monitor SCADA systems for alarms, operational status, and communication issues. Analyze trends and reports to identify potential problems and recommend solutions.
- Provide technical support to operations staff in the testing, maintenance, and control of booster pumping equipment and other critical infrastructure.
- Ensure the reliable operation of water booster stations through daily maintenance, emergency response, and adherence to operational procedures.
- Select, install, calibrate, monitor, maintain, and verify the accuracy of various instrumentation throughout our distribution, collection, and treatment facilities. This includes flow, pressure, level, pH, free chlorine, and turbidity sensors.
- Work collaboratively with other technicians and engineers to troubleshoot complex issues and implement system upgrades.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong technical background in industrial automation and control systems.
- Proven experience working with SCADA systems, PLCs, and other ICS technologies.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, including circuit design and troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Physical ability to perform duties that may involve working at heights, in confined spaces, and in challenging environmental conditions.
