Job Summary

The General Repair Building Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repair services on non-technical facility components, including general handyman-type work such as walls and floors. The Technician must work in accordance with established processes and practices and comply with internal and external requirements, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintains and repairs non-technical facility components
  • Performs work in accordance with established processes and practices
  • Complies with all internal and external requirements, including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection
  • Provides observations about facility conditions and deficiencies and suggests enhancements and repairs
  • Monitors assigned facilities by conducting facility walkthroughs and monitoring non-technical components
  • Responds to routine and on-demand service requests
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repair work on non-technical components
  • Records resolution data within the service maintenance management database
  • Ensures work completed meets quality, contract response, and other requirements
  • Assists in the implementation of preventative maintenance programs
  • Participates in and assists with facility-related projects
  • Ensures work is performed in compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines related to environmental, health and safety, fire protection, and other applicable requirements
  • Maintains all assigned tools and arranges for repair and replacement as needed
  • Submits all expenditures on a timely basis
  • Assists in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through the manner in which work is performed and services delivered

Requirements

  • Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment
  • High school education
  • Minimum 1-3 years of facility operations and maintenance work experience
  • Trade-related training an asset
  • Ability to adhere to and properly execute processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair non-technical facility components
  • Ability to provide observations about facility conditions and deficiencies and suggest enhancements and repairs
  • Ability to research, learn, and gain greater proficiency in applying on-the-job fire, life, safety, and building codes and standards
  • Possesses a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset and ability to perform work in a safe manner
  • Strong client-service orientation and high sense of urgency
  • Effective communication skills for data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarification
  • Demonstrates an interest in enrolling and completing a trades certification or license, or beginning to work towards a trades certification or license
  • Valid driver's license

Salary and Benefits

This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $28.55 to $33.59 per hour. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate's competencies, including experience, education, and performance related to this role.
