Position Overview

Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000

As a Credit Administrator, your primary responsibilities will include evaluating credit applications, approving, and managing customer accounts. You will leverage your solid understanding of credit and collection practices to support the development and enforcement of policies and procedures related to all credit and collection activities within the organization. Furthermore, you will be tasked with the collection of funds while nurturing profitable customer relationships, all while maintaining an acceptable level of risk.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assess new customer applications, evaluate credit risk, and establish accounts.
  2. Collaborate with Profit Centre Managers and the Credit Manager to set credit limits for both new and existing customers.
  3. Notify Profit Centre Managers of significant credit issues, including delinquent accounts and unauthorized deductions.
  4. Work alongside the sales team to devise strategies for managing higher-risk accounts.
  5. Monitor account payments and document collection activities diligently.
  6. Engage with customers regarding outstanding invoices, unauthorized deductions, and reconciliation issues, following up as necessary to achieve resolution.
  7. Conduct credit reference checks, manage the setup and tracking of new accounts, and perform credit reviews.
  8. Investigate and resolve customer disputes promptly, addressing short payments in a manner that exceeds customer expectations.
  9. Prepare documentation for delinquent accounts for third-party collections, bad debt reserves, and write-offs.
  10. Maintain comprehensive notes in the computer system for each account.
  11. Gather necessary documentation, including personal guarantees and financial information, when required.
  12. Provide support to other members of the Credit team as needed.
  13. Respond to inquiries from both internal and external customers.
  14. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Credit Manager and in alignment with the company's daily operations.
  15. Ensure compliance with established policies.
Qualifications

Educational Background:

  1. Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
  2. Possession or pursuit of the Certified Credit Professional Designation is advantageous.
  3. A minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial credit and collections, or a combination of relevant work and educational experience.
  4. Experience in the construction industry is preferred.
  5. Familiarity with plumbing products sold at the Profit Centre is beneficial.

  1. Understanding of fundamental accounting principles.
  2. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  3. Effective negotiation skills when necessary.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  5. Aptitude for identifying root causes of routine issues through inquiry and developing effective solutions.
  6. Demonstrated energy, drive, and persistence in pursuing tasks, particularly in challenging situations.
  7. Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects while thriving in a fast-paced, self-directed team environment.
  8. Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of interacting with individuals at all organizational levels.
  9. Professional demeanor when addressing dissatisfied customers, demonstrating empathy for their situations.
  10. Ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships across various functional areas.
