Heavy Equipment Technician Job Description

Brandt is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team in Fort St. John. This is a great opportunity to work with a variety of heavy equipment and attachments in a shop environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and diagnose the working condition of heavy equipment, including construction and forestry-based equipment and attachments.
  • Repair and maintain heavy equipment, using secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems to complete tasks.
  • Accurately document work orders, including machine information, actions taken, and time taken.
  • Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely and to accepted standards.
  • Use computer applications and information systems to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis.
  • Locate and order parts from parts personnel, using parts catalogues.
  • Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required.
Requirements:
  • Previous mechanical experience in a heavy equipment environment is preferred.
  • Certified Journeyperson in the Heavy Duty Equipment technician trade or equivalent designated trade is preferred.
  • Must be committed to customer service and service excellence.
  • Must be able to communicate and work effectively with customers, the service team, and branch personnel.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
