Role Overview

The Disability Manager plays a crucial role in collaborating with Magna's manufacturing facilities to design, implement, and oversee both WSIB and non-occupational disability initiatives. This position is responsible for ensuring that illness-related absences are handled efficiently, effectively, and economically through the management of workplace injury protocols (WSIB), non-occupational disability programs, and absence management strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct audits of claims and provide actionable recommendations to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Analyze performance reports to ensure effective disability management practices are in place.
  • Review WSIB statements to identify costly claims and work closely with Health and Safety Coordinators at various facilities.
  • Engage with WSIB and WSPS, presenting statistical data to both plant teams and the Corporate Health and Safety department.
  • Deliver training sessions, offer guidance, and assist in claims management while maintaining a detailed disability management manual.
  • Prepare documentation for WSIB Appeals and Tribunal cases, and represent the company in oral hearings as needed.
  • Support WSIB Return to Work specialist meetings and provide on-site assistance.

Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in managing WSIB and non-occupational claims.
  • At least 1 year of experience overseeing disability management programs in a multi-site organization.
  • Experience in mentoring and training others.
  • Preferred qualifications include a university degree and/or relevant professional designations (COHN, OT Reg, NIDMAR).
  • In-depth knowledge of WSIB Operational Policies, Procedures, and applicable legislation.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and multitasking abilities, with a strong capacity for independent work.

  • Willingness to travel overnight up to 10% of the time.
