Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Manager of Employee Relations and Compliance to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for investigating and finalizing medium to high-risk Employee Relations and Labour Relations cases, ensuring compliance with governing regulations, Bank policies, and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and finalize medium to high-risk ER/LR cases, providing expert advice and coaching to employees, People Managers, and HR Business Partners.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, providing value-added advice and coaching on employment-related issues, ensuring global consistency and alignment to established governing regulations, Bank policies, and processes.
  • Identify trends and provide insights to Senior Leadership and HR Business Partners to contribute to the HR strategy, ensuring defensibility against potential litigation.
  • Understand and apply the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture in day-to-day activities and decisions, ensuring teams meet obligations while respecting operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk.
  • Champion a high-performance environment, contributing to a team environment that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates others, fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vision, values, and business strategy.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree or college diploma in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in French is required.
  • CHRP or CHRL designation is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of how to read and interpret collective agreements (international).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including strong report writing and presentation skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office products.
