Principal Mechanical Engineering Leader - Health Sector

To excel as a Principal Mechanical Engineering Leader in the Health Sector, a cooperative mindset is crucial. You will be supported by our extensive network of resources and entrusted to engage with clients and internal teams as a thought leader, champion for the Health Sector, brand ambassador, and expert in project execution.

Our leaders remain actively involved in projects, contributing significantly to our clients' success. You will lead engineering projects focused on the design and delivery of substantial healthcare facilities, typically ranging from 80,000 to 800,000 square feet.

Regular collaboration with architectural and engineering leaders across North America is essential to thrive within our integrated design practice.

As a local leader, you will inspire our team, represent healthcare design, and reinforce Stantec's global brand.

Your role will involve sustaining and expanding revenue within your region and throughout the North American market, attracting premier clients, and achieving growth for the health sector.

Collaboration with technical and managerial project leads will be key to achieving critical operational performance metrics, encompassing both traditional financial metrics and improved health outcomes for the projects we undertake.

You will spearhead local and regional business development initiatives and strategic planning, including pre-positioning and proposal development, involving interior design, medical planning, architecture, and engineering professionals to meet business development and financial objectives in alignment with Stantec policies.

Contributing to Stantec's thought leadership and brand, you will share insights and innovative stories at key client engagements, industry events, and through professional networks.

Recent experience in healthcare, particularly in specialized areas such as Acute Care, Outpatient Care, Women's Health, Behavioral Health, Cancer Therapy, and Long-Term Care projects, is highly valued. Familiarity with project delivery innovations such as Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), Alternative Project Delivery (APD), and Modular approaches is advantageous.

Demonstrated design and planning expertise, along with leadership on significant projects, is essential. A solid technical foundation in Mechanical Engineering for health facilities, with direct design experience in HVAC, Plumbing, Medical Gas, and/or Fire Suppression systems, is required.

Strong organizational, coordination, leadership, team-building, and engagement skills are vital. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is expected. Preference will be given to licensed and credentialed engineers, and Project Management Professional certification is a plus. Additionally, obtaining ASHRAE Healthcare Facility Design Professional (HFDP) certification or a similar qualification relevant to the engineering discipline is advantageous.
