The Role

We are seeking an experienced Underground Operations and Maintenance Coordinator to support our region management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining active underground equipment and asset inventory, maintenance schedules, and critical spares inventory in cooperation with the Regional Operations Manager.
  • Acting as an OTS coach and trainer for underground employees and assisting the HSE team with maintaining training records.
  • Traveling to various sites to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment with the assistance of on-site personnel.
  • Coordinating with sites for preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Maintaining a focus on safety aspects of the operation, the customer, fellow workers, and the public by following HSE rules and standards, SOPs, explosives, TDG, WHMIS, and OH&S regulations, as well as company policies and exercising due diligence and good judgment.
  • Performing Safety Shutdown Testing (SSS) and equipment calibration.
  • Providing effective administration and regulatory compliance by completing and submitting all documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Reporting all problems, accidents, incidents, issues of concern, and unusual occurrences to management without delay.
  • Coordinating with Region Operations Managers to ensure that initiatives meet a standard of improved customer delivery and safety results.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree with a technical focus, preferably in an engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in mining, construction, or industrial applications.
  • Experience with safety, regulatory, and environmental compliance, as well as quality, maintenance, and training systems.
  • Advanced people management skills, including leadership, performance management, and coaching.
  • Experience or familiarity with continuous improvement concepts such as LEAN or Six Sigma.
  • Experience with heavy trucks, equipment, manufacturing processes, electrical, and hydraulic systems, preferably.
  • Experience with bulk truck delivery and on-bench blasting operations, preferably.
  • A strong understanding and acceptance of responsibility for compliance to relevant regulations.
  • A valid driver's license and passport.
