The Manager role is a senior position, serving as a vital collaborator in the support of Scotia Global Asset Management (SGAM) within the Global Wealth Management sector. This position entails overseeing compensation expenses and governance, financial modeling, reporting for SGAM, and conducting planning and analysis to provide financial insights to both internal and external business partners. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, this role necessitates close collaboration with business leaders and other stakeholders to enhance reporting, analysis, and identify opportunities for process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Reporting and Analytical Insights:

  • Maintain comprehensive internal reporting on investment products, including sales, redemptions, and market share, while analyzing industry trends to deliver valuable insights to business leaders.
  • Assist business line leaders with regular and ad-hoc reporting needs, including support for product-related inquiries.
  • Deliver competitive analysis to help business leaders assess performance against industry benchmarks.

2. Quarterly Updates and Forecasting:

  • Oversee the timely collection of financial and non-financial data from various business units.
  • Consolidate forecasts at the brand level for accurate reporting.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of quarterly updates and annual forecasts.
  • Conduct analytical reviews to validate forecasts and address any discrepancies.

3. Annual Profit Planning:

  • Engage in the annual profit planning process and contribute to multi-year forecasting for business lines.
  • Prepare budgets for business units and support groups in a timely manner.
  • Compile a summary presentation for the CAM divisional profit plan for senior management review.

4. Month-End and Quarter-End Reporting:

  • Participate actively in the month-end and quarter-end reporting processes.
  • Prepare and ensure the accuracy of quarter-end results for Asset Management.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify significant quarterly transactions.

5. Development of Financial Reports:

  • Support the creation of financial reports as required, striving to enhance the quality of financial information.

6. Information Gathering for Strategic Projects:

  • Assist senior management in gathering and analyzing information for strategic and tactical initiatives.

7. Resolution of Financial Inquiries:

  • Provide timely responses to requests for financial and management reports, as well as revenue and expense analyses.

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to deliver exceptional service and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Strong relationship management skills to foster collaboration across teams.
  • Strategic problem-solving capabilities with a focus on actionable solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with senior management.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in financial software tools, including Access, Hyperion, and Smartview.
  • Experience in the securities and financial services industry is advantageous.
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years in an accounting or analysis role.
  • Progress towards a professional accounting designation (CPA) is preferred.
