About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Backend Developer Lead to join our team. As a key member of our technical leadership, you will be responsible for leading backend development efforts, guiding the technical direction of our projects, and mentoring a team of talented developers. Your expertise in database technologies will be crucial in shaping our backend architecture, ensuring scalability, and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead Backend Development Efforts: Design and implement sophisticated backend solutions, focusing on database optimization and performance.
  2. Champion Microservices: Promote the use of microservices with asynchronous communication and adopt cutting-edge technologies to drive innovation.
  3. Architect Scalable Solutions: Design and engineer scalable and secure backend solutions that meet the needs of our growing user base.
  4. Ensure Code Quality: Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing to ensure high-quality code.
  5. Refactor for Efficiency: Continuously refactor code for efficiency and embed risk and security controls in your designs.
  6. Design Database Solutions: Design and engineer solutions with a strategic focus on database performance, risk management, and security.
  7. Participate in Platform Development: Participate in the strategic development of platform architecture and infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on database systems.
  8. Align Production Infrastructure: Ensure seamless alignment of production infrastructure with feature releases during SDLC cycles.
  9. Conduct Risk Assessments: Conduct risk assessments and design analyses for new business requirements.
  10. Collaborate with Peer Teams: Collaborate with peer teams to deliver successful integration points.
  11. Mentor Junior Developers: Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  12. Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Trends: Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our backend systems, particularly databases, remain modern and efficient.

Qualifications

  1. Extensive Database Experience: Extensive experience with database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.).
  2. Technical Leadership: Experienced Technology Lead with broad knowledge and skills across Technology and Business.
  3. Backend Expertise: Extensive experience in backend microservices and databases.
  4. Transformation Leadership: Should have led and demonstrated transformation initiatives in complex global environments and progressive companies.
  5. Leadership Experience: Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in hands-on leadership with technology delivery, design, and development.
  6. Agile Development: Detailed experience in Agile development teams.
  7. Team Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of developers.
  8. Programming Languages: Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, or other relevant languages.
  9. Communication Skills: Exemplary communication and stakeholder management skills.
  10. Leadership by Example: Leading by example, with a hands-on engineering attitude.
  11. Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills to coordinate multiple parallel deliveries.
  12. Front-of-Technology Experience: Experience working on Front of technology platforms.
  13. Communication and Problem-Solving: Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
