The Opportunity

At InnVest Hotels, we are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Manager to join our team at the Fairfield Inn and Suites Gravenhurst. As a key member of our opening team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the hotel's facilities and equipment are maintained to the highest standards.

The Role

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all engineering and maintenance operations, including the maintenance of the building, grounds, mechanical equipment, guestrooms, and utility systems. This includes supervising and assisting maintenance staff and contractors, managing the maintenance budget, and implementing preventative maintenance and energy conservation programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and assist maintenance staff and contractors in the maintenance and repair of plumbing, hotel rooms, A/C and heating, ice machines, swimming pool, lighting, kitchen equipment, refrigeration, laundry, emergency generators, switch rooms, etc.
  • Ensure all maintenance and repairs are completed on a timely and cost-effective basis and according to specifications.
  • Order necessary materials and tools for repairing equipment and maintain within budgetary guidelines.
  • Maintain an ongoing preventative maintenance program for the hotel.
  • Responsible for administering and documenting equipment preventative maintenance and guest room preventative maintenance.
  • Responsible for the safety of the department and the building.
  • Respond quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner and follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Provide a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
  • Follow company policies and procedures and effectively communicate them to subordinates.
  • Aggressively recruit and staff department using company hiring standards.
  • Conduct fire drills, training classes regarding safety, security, department procedures, and service guidelines.
  • Ensure hotel is in compliance with all federal, provincial, and local laws, including Health and Safety, ESA, Human Rights, etc.
  • Ensure all fire and safety inspections are completed and any discrepancies are corrected.
Competencies We Are Seeking
  • 3+ years progressive maintenance experience in a supervisory role.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Effective communication and people management skills.
  • Quick thinking and able to spot and resolve problems efficiently.
  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, Micros, POS).
  • Ability to manage personnel and meet financial targets.
  • Guest-oriented and service-minded with an attention to detail.
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Must be able to work independently and maintain a positive attitude within a busy environment.
