Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager, Governance and Controls to join our team at Royal Bank of Canada. As a key member of our Financial & Regulatory Reporting Management team, you will play a critical role in providing accurate and timely financial information to our stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Statement Coordination: Lead the coordination, preparation, and reconciliation of financial statement disclosures, board materials, and regulatory returns at the RBC Consolidated or legal entity level.
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Translate and interpret financial information, conduct complex data analysis, and identify patterns, trends, or insights from large datasets.
  • Report Analysis and Resolution: Analyze reports and related data for completeness, accuracy, consistency with other reported financial information, and data quality issues. Resolve issues on behalf of internal and external stakeholders with respect to financial disclosures and regulatory returns.
  • Reporting Solutions: Identify, propose, implement, and test reporting solutions for new financial and regulatory reporting initiatives/projects through interpreting requirements and working with subject matter experts.
  • Regulatory and Internal Audits: Lead legal entity regulatory, internal, or external audits.
  • Team Leadership: Build a resilient team that is motivated and understands the RBC vision. Provide focus and clarity in establishing individual goals, driving performance management, supporting career development, and rewarding strong performance.
Requirements
  • Experience: 4+ years of experience in financial accounting or financial reporting role, preferably in the financial services or professional accounting services industries.
  • Professional Designation: Professional Accounting or Finance Designation (e.g. Chartered Professional Accountant, etc.).
  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Ability to critically think and challenge financial data when inconsistent or illogical through data analysis. Ability to independently propose solutions to problems and recommend a course of action, in spite of incomplete information and complexity.
  • Communication and Project Management: Ability to manage timelines and project progress through both personal accountability and through coordinating and negotiating with stakeholders.
  • Desire to Challenge the Status Quo: Desire to challenge the status quo and make bold changes.
  • Complex Subject Matter Communication: Ability to make complex subject matter easy-to-follow through written and oral-communication skills.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to manage and analyze large data sets using advanced Excel functions.
