Structural Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Engineer to join our team at Parsons Corporation. As a key member of our Critical Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering critical infrastructure projects that connect and protect communities around the world.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design structural steel structures and buildings using software packages such as SAP 2000, following CSA S-16-19 Handbook of Steel Construction.
  • Design reinforced concrete structures using structural analysis software packages such as SAFE, ETABS, and S-Concrete, following CSA A Concrete Design Handbook.
  • Verify designs using hand calculations following CSA design codes CSA A and CSA S-16-19.
  • Markup structural steel details for BIM technologists and EITs.
  • Markup rebar details for reinforced concrete structures for BIM technologists.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines, clients, and construction managers.
  • Prepare calculation packages.
  • Conduct site visits and issue site visit reports.
  • Contribute to structural specifications.
Requirements:
  • Refer to Job Description for Education and Experience Requirements.
  • Strong structural design knowledge in producing structural drawings.
  • Basic understanding of structural analysis software packages.
  • Excellent communication skills.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience in transit projects structural design.
  • Experience in structural design following Metrolinx Design Railway Manual (DRM) standards and American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA 2023) standards.
  • Experience in masonry design following CSA S304-19 standards.
  • Higher degree (Masters or Doctorate) in structural design is considered an asset.
  • Computational design knowledge and experience.
