Job Title: Coastal Engineer - Design and Analysis

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Coastal Engineer to join our team at Baird & Associates Coastal Engineers Ltd. as a Design and Analysis specialist.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and analyzing coastal and marine structures, including shore protection, flood risk reduction infrastructure, living shorelines, and restoration projects. They will work closely with our team of engineers and technicians to develop and evaluate technical documents, participate in client meetings, and coordinate with technical staff to utilize coastal resources effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Analysis: Develop and evaluate technical documents, including design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for coastal and marine structures.
  • Project Management: Coordinate with technical staff to utilize coastal resources effectively, manage project scope, budgets, deliverables, and schedule.
  • Client Communication: Participate in client meetings, develop and coordinate winning proposals, attract new clients, and retain current clients as required.
  • Construction Services: Provide construction management and construction observation services for coastal and marine projects.
Requirements:
  • Education: Master's degree in Civil, Coastal, Marine Civil, or Environmental Engineering.
  • Experience: A minimum of ten years of coastal engineering experience in a consulting or contractor role with a specific emphasis on analysis and design.
  • Skills: Strong technical background in marine and coastal design, analysis, and implementation, including experience with coastal protection and defense structures, coastal erosion, and land stabilization, metocean, dredging and reclamation, coastal planning, and management.
  • Additional Requirements: Willingness to travel for domestic and international projects, occasional assignments may require extended travel for several weeks at a time.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
  • Technical Experience: Experience focused on the analysis and design of coastal protection and defense structures, coastal erosion, and land stabilization, metocean, dredging and reclamation, coastal planning, and management.
  • Construction Management Experience: Experience related to the above-mentioned marine or coastal projects.
  • Interpersonal and Verbal Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
