Job Title: District Health and Safety Manager

Central Okanagan Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic professional to lead the District's Health and Safety Program. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting all schools and work locations in complying with current health and safety legislation and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the District's Health and Safety Program to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • Act as a resource to Principals and Departments in emergency preparedness and response.
  • Participate in District Health and Safety Advisory Committees and wellness initiatives.
  • Identify and coordinate employee safety training and development programs.
  • Provide leadership in a Health and Safety department of nine staff members.
  • Manage the following programs and services:
    • COR Safety Audit & Site Inspections
    • Communicable Disease Program
    • Online safety training library (Safe23)
    • Site Joint Occupational H&S Committee (JOHSC) program
    • Violence reporting/investigation (VTIH) process
    • Ergonomics and Equipment Accommodation Program
Requirements:
  • Formal post-secondary education/training in Health and Safety Management.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience as a health and safety professional, preferably in a school district setting and/or in a large multi-union environment.
