Job Title: District Health and Safety Manager

Central Okanagan Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and experienced District Health and Safety Manager to join our team. As a key member of our district leadership, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for our students, staff, and community.

About Us

We operate within the unceded, Traditional Territory of the Okanagan syilx peoples and serve over 25,000 students, including approximately 3,200 students who self-identify as having Indigenous ancestry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and investigations to identify and mitigate hazards
  • Provide training and education to staff on health and safety protocols and procedures
  • Collaborate with district leadership and staff to ensure a safe and healthy work environment
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A degree in a related field, such as occupational health and safety or a related field
  • Proven experience in health and safety management, preferably in an educational setting
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
