POSITION OVERVIEW

The Cleaning and Laundry Support Specialist is tasked with executing general cleaning and laundry responsibilities within set guidelines, adhering to the policies of Simcoe County and relevant legislation. As a crucial member of Long Term Care and Seniors Services, the Cleaning and Laundry Support Specialist exemplifies a dedication to resident safety by delivering quality services aligned with the organization's mission and vision.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Carry out all general cleaning and laundry tasks as necessary.

2. Conduct deep cleaning and sanitization of designated areas or rooms as required.

3. Transport and distribute personal clothing to resident accommodations.

4. Collect and deliver clean linen and personal items, as well as manage soiled items.

5. Assist in waste management activities.

6. Support the orientation process for new staff members.

7. Actively participate in the infection control program in accordance with the Provincial Infectious Diseases Advisory Committee (PIDAC).

8. Assist in implementing quality management strategies such as home audits when requested.

9. Engage in committee participation as required.

10. Attend training sessions, staff meetings, and workshops as directed by the immediate Supervisor.

11. Incorporate and demonstrate an understanding of resident safety principles in daily activities. Adhere to all safety practices and report any actions that may pose a risk to resident safety.

12. Collaborate as a member of the interdisciplinary team within the facility.

13. Utilize all provided electronic systems effectively.

14. Perform additional duties as assigned.

15. Adhere to all relevant legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures.

16. Comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Long Term Care Homes Act, ensuring safe performance of duties and following all health and safety policies and procedures.

17. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with applicable privacy legislation.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS


• Completion of grade 11 or equivalent education.


• Ability to successfully complete a reading and comprehension assessment.


• Familiarity with housekeeping and laundry equipment and processes.


• Basic ability to follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with residents and staff.


• A recent Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required at the time of hire.


• Candidates must provide documented results of TB testing as per Public Health requirements.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED


• A minimum of three months of commercial experience in a similar or related role.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS


• Frequent standing and walking during work hours, along with bending, stooping, and lifting.


• Moving carts and performing related tasks as necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT


• This role is situated in a long-term care facility, with potential exposure to illnesses and germs on a daily basis.


• May encounter extreme temperatures, chemicals, bodily fluids, and germs.


• Work schedule to be determined; shifts may include days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
