Senior Mechatronics Engineer (Electronics) - Grocery Pick Hardware

As a key member of the Ocado Logistics team, you will play a critical role in designing and developing advanced robotic systems for our customers. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Software, AI, and Product, to design and implement complex robotic systems.

You will be responsible for owning critical aspects of new projects, including end-of-arm tooling and robotic system design. You will work closely with our Robotics Software and Platform Teams to ensure seamless integration of your designs into our larger system architecture.

What you will bring:

  • Ability to rapidly iterate and prototype designs, demonstrating new concepts and ideas
  • Experience in identifying and characterizing key sensor attributes, selecting appropriate integration hardware, and designing robust sensor systems
  • Experience in selecting and integrating motors, motor controllers, and other electrical components
  • Experience with board-level hardware interfaces, fieldbus technologies, and microcontrollers
  • Ability to design, manufacture, and debug multilayer PCBs, with expertise in EDA tools
  • Practical experience in designing systems for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) compliance
  • Ability to design, justify, and communicate the electrical architecture of our products, evaluating components and technologies against project requirements

Bonus Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as an engineer in a related industry
  • Track record of full product lifecycle ownership, from ideation to mass production
  • Applicable skills in end effector design, industrial automation, or robotic work cells
  • Experience with analog electrical equipment, including cable and connector specification, panel layouts, and NFPA79 compliance
  • Familiarity with machine safety standards, including ANSI/RIA R and NFPA79
