Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Technical Director to join our team at Technicolor Creative Studios. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of technical directors, ensuring they have the necessary skills to meet project requirements and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership
- Take ownership of the health and success of projects and shows your team is working on.
- Collaborate with project managers and R&D operations to write project charters and report progress.
- Team Management
- Manage the relationship with key stakeholders to develop solutions in collaboration with the technical director.
- Collaborate with the software development team to customize and extend industry-standard software and tools to meet the studio's specific needs.
- Diagnose and solve technical issues to maintain a stable production environment.
- Performance Evaluation
- Work with local department heads to provide meaningful performance evaluations for your team members.
- Participate in interviews with potential team members or those assigned to projects related to your domain, as needed.
- Reporting and Tracking
- Track your efforts using methods and tools provided according to TCS R&D project management standards and promote accurate reporting.
- Quality Assurance
- Ensure the final production meets the highest quality standards while managing technical constraints and limitations.
Requirements
- Technical Expertise
- Advanced knowledge of Python or C++.
- Proficiency in Linux and Git. Significant knowledge of one or more VFX applications (Houdini, Maya, etc.).
- Leadership Experience
- Significant experience in software development and release for a company or organization.
- Demonstrable experience in interpreting stakeholder requests and providing functional solutions.
- Experience leading a team or project or extended experience as a senior-level developer.
- Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional Technical Expertise
- Knowledge of PySide, PyQt.
- Experience with Confluence and/or Jira.
- Industry Knowledge
- Understanding of how data flows between departments in a VFX studio.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum methodology.
