Position Overview

The Quality Assurance and Control Inspector plays a crucial role in overseeing the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring adherence to codes, regulations, and project specifications throughout the fabrication process. This includes the evaluation and completion of project QA/QC documentation, along with monitoring welding compliance, inspection, and testing activities at the job site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Articulate quality requirements to management, staff, and clients.
  • Ensure all site operations comply with established quality codes and standards.
  • Disseminate quality control documentation to subcontractors on site.
  • Provide management with relevant feedback regarding QA/QC issues.
  • Review Issued for Construction (IFC) P&IDs, ISOs, and vessel drawings to confirm appropriate Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) are referenced and overall accuracy is maintained.
  • Guarantee the effective implementation of all QA/QC standards both in the workshop and on-site.
  • Oversee the completion of pre-project documentation (e.g., Contract Reviews/Inspection Test Plans/WPS approval) to facilitate successful project initiation.
  • Conduct pre-inspections and assist in material receiving processes to ensure all fabricated and installed materials meet applicable standards, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ensure thorough weld and Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) mapping and visual inspections are conducted.
  • Maintain traceability of NDE reports and radiographic films.
  • Ensure hydrotest packages are completed and witness testing activities to verify adherence to testing protocols.
  • Continuously monitor ongoing work through the QC audit process to ensure compliance with QA/QC and other project standards.
  • Identify and manage all Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare necessary regulatory documentation and organize project files for final handover to clients.
  • Manage, store, and file all controlled documents appropriately.
  • Assist in training emerging trades personnel in QA/QC practices and procedures.

Qualifications

Education

  • CWB Welding Inspector Level 1 certification with endorsements in B31.3, W47.1, W59, and CSA Z662 is required.
  • NACE Coating Inspector Level 1/AMPP Basic Coatings Inspector certification is an asset.
  • A relevant technical diploma or trade certificate is required.

Experience

  • Proficient understanding of ASME and CSA codes (Pressure Vessels, Process Piping, and Structural).
