Overview
Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the Quality Assurance/Quality Control Inspector plays a crucial role in leveraging their technical knowledge to assist the Region in implementing quality management systems and ongoing certification processes while adhering to the Black & McDonald Limited Code of Business Conduct. The responsibilities include employing sharp analytical skills to oversee the quality control program and keeping all relevant stakeholders informed about the QC performance metrics.

The QA/QC Inspector is expected to actively participate in the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB), ensuring that all on-site quality management systems, procedures, and documentation are consistently applied in accordance with the compliance regulations established by Black & McDonald Limited Corporate Policy. Additionally, strong organizational skills are essential for the timely verification and documentation of inspection and testing outcomes as outlined in the Inspection and Test Plans.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct QA/QC inspections primarily at the fabrication facility, with occasional site visits as necessary. Develop, implement, and support all facets of quality assurance within the Region in alignment with CWB, AWS, and ASME B3.1.1 & B31.3 standards. Formulate and enforce policies, standards, and procedures for the engineering and technical tasks performed within the department. Identify and manage nonconforming items and ensure proper control measures are in place. Collaborate with external organizations and subcontractors. Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and client satisfaction concerning quality assurance. Verify that site actions comply with government, client, and company occupational health and safety regulations. In conjunction with Operations, develop and oversee the execution of project quality plans and documentation, ensuring compliance by subcontractors. Liaise with Authorized Inspection Agencies to verify control of nonconforming items. Ensure effective inspections of received materials and special calibrated tools. Investigate, assess, and trend customer quality-related issues, implementing appropriate corrective actions.

Employment Qualifications

Active registration with the Canadian Welding Bureau as a Welding Inspector with CSA Standard W. Strong communication abilities. Comprehensive understanding of welding symbols and defects. In-depth knowledge of CSA W47.1 and W59 standards. Possession of a valid CWB W59 Inspector Level 1 or higher certification.
