Position Overview

The Quality Assurance/Quality Control Inspector plays a critical role in overseeing Quality Management Systems (QMS), ensuring adherence to codes, regulations, and project specifications throughout the fabrication process. This includes the evaluation and completion of project QA/QC documentation as well as monitoring welding compliance, inspection, and testing activities on-site.

All employees are expected to promote a "culture of safety" and embody Strike Group's Code of Conduct and Values, treating colleagues and clients with dignity, respect, and fairness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Articulate quality standards to management, team members, and clients.
  • Ensure compliance of all site operations with established quality codes and standards.
  • Disseminate quality control documentation to subcontractors on-site.
  • Provide management with relevant feedback regarding QA/QC issues.
  • Review Issued for Construction (IFC) P&IDs, ISOs, and vessel schematics to confirm the correct Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) are utilized and ensure overall accuracy.
  • Implement all QA/QC requirements effectively both in the workshop and on-site.
  • Complete necessary pre-project documentation (e.g., Contract Reviews/Inspection Test Plans/WPS approvals) to facilitate successful project initiation.
  • Conduct pre-inspections and assist in material receiving processes to verify that all fabricated and installed materials meet applicable standards, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ensure comprehensive weld and Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) mapping and visual inspections are performed.
  • Maintain traceability of NDE reports and radiographic films.
  • Oversee the completion of hydrotest packages and witness testing activities to ensure adherence to proper testing protocols.
  • Continuously monitor ongoing work through the QC audit process to guarantee compliance with QA/QC and other project requirements.
  • Identify and manage all Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare necessary regulatory documentation and organize project files for final client turnover.
  • Manage, store, and file all controlled documents appropriately.
  • Assist in training emerging trades personnel in QA/QC practices and procedures.

Qualifications

Education

  • Must possess a CWB Welding Inspector Level 1 certificate with endorsements in B31.3, W47.1, W59, and CSA Z662.
  • NACE Coating Inspector Level 1/AMPP Basic Coatings Inspector certification is advantageous.
  • A relevant technical diploma or trade certificate is required.

Experience

  • Proficient understanding of ASME and CSA codes, including Pressure Vessels, Process Piping, and Structural.
