Eclipx Family Office is a Montreal-based entity dedicated to providing investment, financial, and administrative support to the Trottier Family Foundation and the Trottier family. Established to enhance the foundation's capacity to implement sustainable investment goals, Eclipx aims to extend these practices to private family assets. The office is deeply aligned with the values of the Trottier family, focusing on developing and executing investment policies that direct capital towards organizations, funds, and managers that share their commitment to achieving both purpose and financial returns.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are in search of a seasoned Sustainable Investment Specialist to oversee and facilitate all facets of identifying, evaluating, and executing investment opportunities, along with conducting fundamental market research. This role is ideal for individuals eager to engage with diverse asset classes and who are passionate about making a significant impact through sustainable investment practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Sustainable Investment Specialist, you will collaborate closely with the Director of Private Investments and the Chief Investment Officer in managing the investment portfolio. Your responsibilities will include:

Investment Management

  • Identifying new investment prospects and maintaining a comprehensive database of potential opportunities.
  • Conducting thorough due diligence on investment prospects, assessing financial, operational, impact (both positive and negative), and ESG dimensions.
  • Assisting in the preparation of investment memoranda and recommendations.
  • Monitoring ongoing investments to ensure timely data collection and reporting for quarterly and annual evaluations against financial and impact/ESG objectives.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with various stakeholders, including portfolio companies and investment managers both domestically and internationally.

Knowledge & Learning

· Conducting fundamental research across various sectors and contributing to the team's ongoing learning regarding the latest investment best practices.

· Investigating innovative finance models and developments in sustainable finance, particularly in impact investing.

· Collaborating with program staff at the Trottier Family Foundation to ensure a continuous understanding of programmatic priorities.

· Supporting internal knowledge sharing and learning initiatives.

Other Related Activities

· Partnering with the finance and operations team to ensure timely completion of transactions and meticulous documentation of all necessary data.

· Developing financial and investment models.

· Creating reporting systems to present investment data to various stakeholders in an accessible format.

· Assisting with external reporting and compliance obligations.

· Organizing and maintaining internal investment files and systems to ensure they are current.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • A higher education degree in finance, commerce, economics, or a related field.
  • CFA or equivalent designations are considered an asset.
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, including advanced financial modeling capabilities.
  • A strong investment acumen with a genuine enthusiasm for research and sustainable investments.
  • The ability to distill complex data into clear insights.
  • A technical mindset with a demonstrated passion for understanding operational mechanics.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple tasks with a keen attention to detail.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with various reporting and project management software and tools is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with sustainable and impact investment strategies is a strong asset.
  • An understanding of climate change issues, ESG criteria, and sustainable investment strategies is highly desirable.
