Job Overview

Arcadis is in search of a skilled Project Manager specializing in Transportation Engineering to enhance our vibrant team. We seek an individual with expertise in managing road and transit initiatives, particularly within Ontario. Proficiency in areas such as Environmental Assessments, preliminary and detailed design, transportation planning, traffic management, and traffic engineering will be considered advantageous.

As a Project Manager, your role will involve contributing to the growth and sustainability of our business. Collaborating with our Design & Engineering teams, you will be involved in creating some of the most innovative and transformative structures and spaces that enhance the environment around us, from improving transportation experiences to developing public areas that foster community interaction.

We collaborate with clients globally to design vibrant and interconnected cities and communities that provide opportunities for all and facilitate seamless mobility. The challenges posed by climate change, urbanization, and digitization necessitate that contemporary mobility projects and systems address a complex array of demands from a growing global population. We develop integrated, sustainable solutions that merge existing infrastructure with cutting-edge technologies, optimizing the movement of people and goods.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager on transportation infrastructure projects, including Class Environmental Assessments, TPAP, preliminary designs, detailed designs, and improvement studies. Act as the Transportation Engineering task lead for large-scale initiatives. Review preliminary and detailed design documentation, and support report preparation (e.g., Environmental Study Reports, traffic studies, technical reports), and proposal development. Oversee staff productivity and resource allocation. Mentor and guide project teams and staff. Supervise personnel and actively participate in project completion. Cultivate a culture of enthusiasm and client-centered service. Lead business development efforts in the Ottawa and GTHA regions. Coordinate projects across various design disciplines, managing schedules and budgets effectively. Serve as a liaison for clients. Engage in the management of the Transportation Group within the Ottawa Office.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution. A minimum of 5 years of Project Management experience and over 8 years in Transportation Engineering. Experience in roadway preliminary or detailed design. P.Eng. designation (or eligibility for membership with PEO) is preferred. Familiarity with municipal and regional agencies is beneficial. Experience in the design of intersections, arterial roads, highways, and freeways, including alignments, geometrics, staging, traffic management, and roadside safety. Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, InRoads, and Civil3D is an asset. Understanding of traffic engineering principles. Knowledge of market conditions and client bases in the Ottawa and GTHA areas. Familiarity with contract administration, construction oversight, and report preparation. Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating effective project and team management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Highly motivated with a strong commitment to excellence and quality work. Excellent analytical and decision-making capabilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
