Position Overview:

The role involves ensuring that all bulk and finished products are sampled, analyzed, tested, and inspected in accordance with established protocols, compendia, and standard testing methodologies, all while operating under minimal supervision. This position is designated for the night shift, with working hours from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM EST.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze samples of bulk and finished goods, maintaining accurate documentation and records of all analyses.
  • Control and maintain all standards or master samples for bulk and finished goods.
  • Conduct instrumental and wet chemistry tasks, setting up and operating laboratory instruments such as IR, pH meters, viscometers, and convection ovens as required by testing methods.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment in line with established calibration protocols.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and methodological issues, providing recommendations for solutions.
  • Document and interpret all test results, calculations, and observations, preparing comprehensive reports as necessary.
  • Coordinate with supervisors regarding Out of Specification (OOS) analytical test results, conducting investigations and completing OOS reports.
  • Initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for non-compliant materials and communicate with relevant personnel, including suppliers when necessary.
  • Maintain detailed records of all test results and gather data for future specifications development; initiate the creation or modification of specifications based on historical data.
  • Monitor inventory levels of laboratory supplies and reagents required for analyses, as well as consumables for laboratory instruments.
  • Conduct compatibility testing for new formulations and packaging components.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly in Excel.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Exhibit sound judgment in manufacturing decisions.
